The Threads of Feeling exhibition has now posted a wonderful slideshow of fabric scraps, some together with the heart-rending notes left in hope, or despair, with the infants.
It is a wonderful opportunity to see fabrics of the time in fine definition on your computer screen, but so much more than that, it is an incredibly moving thing to sit so close, and quietly in your own home, and read the words of women or families for whom this was the last contact with the child they were having to leave.
